Two weeks of wear is not a property of the nail. It is a property of the thirty seconds before the nail goes on. Adhesive bonds to clean, dry, slightly matte keratin. It does not bond to oil, water or shine.
The five things that shorten wear
One. Skipping the wipe. Natural nails carry oil even when they look clean. Wipe every nail with the prep pad and let it flash dry.
Two. Leaving the shine. A glossy nail plate gives glue nothing to grip. Two passes with the buffer is enough, you are taking off shine, not thickness.
Three. Flooding the glue. A thick layer of glue holds worse than a thin one and takes damage with it on removal. One thin line down the centre, one inside the tip.
Four. Water in the first hour. The bond cures for about an hour after application. Dishes, showers and pools can wait that long.
Five. Using the tips as tools. Cans, tape, stickers on packages. Open them with the pad of your finger and the free edge stays sealed.
The two minute ritual
Wipe, push the cuticle back, buff, size every finger dry, then glue and press for thirty seconds each. Done properly once, it is faster than fixing a lifted corner twice.
