Every story about press-ons ruining nails is a story about removal done in a hurry. The bond that held for two weeks will let go in five minutes, but only if you dissolve it instead of breaking it.
The method
Fill a bowl with warm water, add a few drops of oil, any cuticle or olive oil works, and soak your fingertips for five minutes. The warmth softens the adhesive, the oil creeps into the seam.
Test one corner with the wooden cuticle stick. If it lifts, work the stick slowly along the sides, never from the tip. If it resists, soak two more minutes. Prying from the tip is how the top layer of a natural nail comes off with the set, so do not pry.
Once the set is off, roll any leftover adhesive away with your thumb or the buffer, wash your hands, and oil the cuticles. That is the entire aftercare.
If you want to reuse the set
Clean the inside of each tip with remover and a cotton pad, let them dry, and store them in the tray they came in. A set removed by soaking survives two or three wears easily. A set torn off survives none.
